In 2006, we held the first event that our team were organising. It was called Ecchicon and was dedicated to a sub-genre of manga and anime called “ecchi”, which was aimed at people over the age of 15 due to its slight erotic tinge. The last Ecchicon was held in 2010 and, despite many requests from enthusiasts of the event, there was no suitable opportunity to hold another edition, so we focused on other projects.
This year, we decided to bring back Ecchicon in a modified form, as an adult zone organised within Animatsuri.

Frequently Asked Questions
Our 18+ zone is being prepared for adult fans who are not necessarily comfortable around younger people. By the way, also those who remember the times of the first Ecchicons (which, by the way, they remember very positively), as well as all new adult fans who have been deterred from attending conventions by the large number of young people. We also want to give NSFW artists the opportunity to exhibit their work at the convention, where this has not been possible until now. The zone is intended to be a space for cosplayers who want to dress up as their favourite characters, but in doing so not to offend young people or expose themselves to their often hurtful opinions. We are keen to maintain an open atmosphere, where it will be possible to discuss all sorts of topics without interference or judgement.
On the second floor of Hall 2 (entrance hall) is a room called Onyx. In it, in addition to a spacious hall, there are also several rooms. Nothing else on this floor is available, so there will be no cases of people turning up at the zone who had not planned to do so.
There will, of course, be an age check. A booth will be set up in front of the entrance to the zone, and after the participant has confirmed his or her age, the staff will put on a special wristband, which will enable entry into the zone. Age can only be verified with an identity card (or passport), including the mobile version (mObywatel app), although the latter will require additional code verification. Lack of a wristband will prevent entry into the zone.
No. The only way to enter the zone is to pass age verification. Therefore, if a participant is not at least 18 years of age and does not have an identity card, then unfortunately he or she will not be allowed to enter the zone. On the other hand, if, despite this, a minor somehow enters the zone, such a person will be disciplinary removed from the Animatsuri area upon detection.
The safety of our participants is very important to us. We are against any verbal, physical violence or harassment of participants, especially cosplayers. Our zone will have a delegated group of volunteers who will take care of this zone only for the entire duration of the convention and at the same time keep an eye on order in the zone. Any display of undesirable behavior should be reported to the zone staff and will be taken seriously.
We are aware that conventions and similar events attract people who should not be there, but the introduction of the 18+ Zone will not make them come. Our event is visited by several thousand people and unfortunately among them there will always be individuals who will make life miserable for others. This is why it is so important to report any such situation you witness right away, or (even worse) if an unpleasant situation has just happened to you. Time is of the essence here, so silence and a passive attitude will not help us track down such a person and draw consequences against them that would prevent them from hurting someone else. Only together will we be able to keep the public safe.
No. Only photographers delegated by the Organisers to take photos and videos in the zone will be allowed to do so, and they will be carefully instructed on how to do so while maintaining the safety and respect of the participants. In addition, there will be a space where you will be allowed to take a photo of yourself with another person in the zone, assuming they give you their permission. Any attendee caught taking photos will have to delete the photos taken and will be permanently removed from the zone and, in extreme cases, from the entire convention.
It is difficult to say definitively, as it depends very much on the programme points that are submitted to us. What we can say, however, is that we will welcome not only attractions touching upon the subject of erotica, but also horror (including gore), violence, stimulants and many others, which should not be touched upon in front of underage participants and which are legal under Polish law.
Yes. There is a space in the zone which we will dedicate to exhibitors offering items which should not be within the sight (and wallet) of minors, and which are legal from the point of view of Polish law. If you are an exhibitor offering such items, we encourage you to take a look at their offer, which will be available there.
In addition, please note that merchandise purchased in the zone may not be displayed outside the zone, so please keep it hidden until you leave the event area. Failure to do so will be treated as a breach of the point 21 of the event regulations.
